Born Again
(born from above) St John 3:1-8;13-16 To be born again is an initial one time experience of cleansing, provided for believers through the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. It is a gift of our Heavenly Father and takes place through the creative act of the Holy Spirit. The condition for being "born again" is to truly believe that Christ was crucified and raised again to cover all of your sins and reconcile you to God. Consequently, those who accept Christ as their Savior are asked to confess out of their mouth, what they believe in their heart, and they shall be saved. When one makes a confession, they are declaring openly by way of speaking out freely. Confession is made because one believes in their heart and have a heart felt conviction of facts about Christ being crucified in their stead. This is no small matter because what you truly believe, determines the path you choose to follow. Through the new birth believers become a member of God's Holy Family and a partaker of the divine nature, the life of Christ Himself. As a dependent and a child of God's, you will learn quickly that you can not live a holy life without help; and you do not have to. The Holy Spirit is present to lead you down the path of right-living. It is the Spirit of God who drew you to Him and it is through His power that you learn how - and continue to walk in faith, in Jesus Christ.is present to lead you down the path of right-living. Salvation, like the new birth and being filled with the Holy Spirit is also a gift of God. It is the promised manifestation of God's love; His favor, mercy and spiritual endowment given to everyone who believes in the atoning work Jesus accomplished by the shedding of His blood for every believer. Spirit Filled Acts 1:8, 2:4 ..."But you shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you:: and ye shall be witnesses unto me...." ...And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is no more mystical than being born again! Both are a gift from God and both are received by faith in Christ Jesus. The 120 that experienced the filling of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost (Act 2:1) were waiting in faith on the promise of the Father (Luke :24-49). The Holy Spirit was and is that promise. Spiritual endowment is given to the believers so that they may be efficient and effective witnesses to the finished work of the cross. The Spirit working through the believers as they proclaim the Gospel, convicts of sin and convinces the sinner of the need to turn away from sin and turn toward God. He illuminates the spoken truth concerning Jesus and gives hope for every situation to all who believes in the Son of God. The disciple's ministry was to begin in their local region, spread to surrounding areas, and then go to the remainder of the earth, making disciples as they went. This is still the commission of every believer. Christ promised that those who believed could operate in power and authority; and He would work with them confirming the Word with signs following |
